Percutaneous Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Using Zenith Flex Stent System
- Operator: John R. Laird, MD
Relevant clinical history and physical examination
A 72 years old woman visited to local hospital with intermittent flank pain. AAA was detected accidentally by AP CT. So, she was referred to our hospital for endovascular aneurysm repair of known abdominal aortic aneurysm. She had diabetes and hypertension, and received PCI 10 years ago.
Relevant test results prior to catheterization
A CT scan showed 51 mm sized, fusiform aneurysm in infrarenal abdominal aorta. (Figure 1)
Procedure
Both femoral arteries were exposed by cut down procedure and were punctured with 8 Fr sheath. With pigtail catheter, aortography was done. ( Movie 1) After 0.035 inch terumo wire insertion, Zenith flex main body 20X28X112 was deployed at infrarenal abdominal aorta via Rt. femoral approach. ( Movie 2) Zenith flex iliac leg 16X14X95 was deployed at Lt. CIA via Lt. femoral approach. ( Movie 3) Zenith flex iliac leg 16X24X78 was deployed at Rt. CIA via Rt. femoral approach. ( Movie 4) After stent insertion, Coda balloon (10 Fr) was inflated into in-stent area of abdominal aorta and both CIA. Final angiogram showed successful exclusion of AAA. ( Movie 5)
