Rt. ICA Treated by Stent Implantation
- Operator: Paul Hsien-Li Kao, MD
Case Presentation
The patient was a 71 years old man and found to have stenosis in Rt. internal carotid artery on carotid Doppler. His cardiovascular risk factor was hypertension, diabetes and chronic renal failure. He was performed PCI about 3 years ago.
Baseline Angiography & MRA
1. A diffuse 90% stenosis of right ICA was revealed ( Movie 1).
2. Carotid Doppler showed 80% stenosis in right carotid bulb.
Procedural Step
A 9 Fr sheath was inserted into right femoral artery. Right carotid artery was engaged with JR4 guiding catheter. Carotid and cerebral angiograms were taken. A 9 x 30 mm Carotid Wall stent was deployed (Figure 1)). Adjunctive postdilatation was performed with a 4.0 x 20mm Fox balloon at 8 atm ( Movie 2). Final carotid angiogram showed good result with no residual diameter stenosis ( Movie 3).
